originally from a suburb of boston, massachusetts, sara cole is an artist currently
living in seattle, washington. cole spent the previous twenty years in the south bay
area of california, where she earned her mfa in 2006 in painting & drawing and

performance art, both from san jose state university. she also has completed
course work toward an MA in contemporary non-western art history. her work is
at its core experimental, with a never ending quest to discover the fundamental
properties of materials, including both traditional artist materials, and every day
materials. she is freshly inspired on a daily basis, taking interest in the natural
world, the frailty and transitory nature of the human body, and the ramifications
of populations on each other and the world around us. she is often captivated by
the intensity of moving clouds, falling leaves, cast shadows and the random
overheard conversations of strangers. cole is, at the core level, a teacher, having
taught all ages, from pre-k through the collegiate level. she has also won
numerous artistic merit awards. cole has shown nationally including in nyc and at
the san francisco museum of modern art. cole is currently represented by several
well established nationwide fine art galleries.
